2019 saw the end of the Meximelt and we still aren’t over it
"Long live the Meximelt! In 2019, Taco Bell decided to completely revamp their menu, and not only did a number of items get ditched, but even the look of the menu was revitalized. However, in the midst of all of this change, one of the longest running menu items was given the axe without any fanfare.
In a piece Thrillist did in August about the items that Taco Bell was removing from their menu, they mentioned how the fast food restaurant had taken the Meximelt and “quietly discontinued [it] earlier this year.” And while we knew about our favorite item on the menu being discontinued, after all we order it every time we hit up the Taco Bell drive-thru, seeing it in print made it even more real.
As 2019 comes to an end, I admit that I am still not over the decision to eliminate this long-running staple of the menu. This is a childhood favorite and something I really did grow up enjoying. It even has its own Wiki page! And according to that Wiki page, the Meximelt has been around for about 30 years."
