"Reverse Quesarito" (Later the Cheesy Core Burrito)

March 15, 2016

The Reverse Quesarito was tested in Toledo, OH. This burrito features a layer of two tortillas sandwiching meat wrapped around a cheesy core. They tested spicy core and crunchy core versions; a layer of meat, hot sauce, and rice in the outer layer, nacho cheese and shredded cheese on the inner circle. Spicy includes jalapenos and crunchy containing red strips also in the inner core.

This item went nationwide Experience 7 (August 11) 2016.

Boss Burritos

Boss Burritos were spotted in northeast Ohio. Boss Burritos follow in the footsteps of the Boss Wraps that were a national item late 2015 and featured crispy potatoes, bacon, chipotle sauce, sour cream and a double portion of your choice of Steak/Chicken ($5.99) or Beef ($4.99).

Strawberries & Cream Popanadas

Spotted in Michigan, the Strawberries & Cream Popanadas were similar to the Apple Empanadas that are a current dessert at Taco Bell except filled with strawberries and cream instead of apple.

Double Stacked Tacos

Testing at Toledo, Ohio were the Double Stacked Tacos. A crunchy taco shell inside of a soft taco tortilla and separated by cheese and sauce.  Each Double Stacked Taco topped with seasoned ground beef, lettuce, shredded cheese and a sauce. There are three to choose from: Cool Habanero, Nacho Crunch, and Spicy Sweet.  Priced at $1 each. 

This item first went nationwide Experience 1 (December 22, 2016) 2017, and has been back multiple times since.

Jalapeno Popper Quesarito

The Jalapeno Popper Quesarito was spotted testing in Charlotte, NC. Basically a quesarito but with jalapenos stuffed between the two tortilla's as well as cheese.

These cost $2.49 each in the test run, but it's probably something you could ask for from the regular menu as well if you're willing to pay a little extra.

Flamin Hot / Chili Cheese Frito Tacos

The Flamin’ Hot Fritos Taco and the new Chili Cheese Fritos Taco were found at a Taco Bell in Brookville, Ohio.

Both look to be your standard Taco Bell taco in regular and supreme versions, but using a new Fritos corn chip taco shell. The regular with seasoned beef, lettuce and cheese is priced at $1.00 (Supreme for $1.39)

Cheesy Chalupa Crunch

Testing in Texas, the Cheesy Chalupa Crunch is a Cheesy Gordita Crunch but with a Chalupa shell instead of a Gordita (which are both made from the same flatbread). Also there is nacho cheese between the shells instead of the 3-cheese blend. These were priced at $2.49 each.

The Grande Quesadilla Slice was spotted in Eaton, OH. For size, think of a big pizza slice, or the Grilled Stuft Nacho but with both sides open. These sold for $2.49 each.

The Loaded Taco Burrito tested in Ohio. This item features seasoned beef, lettuce, shredded cheese, sour cream, tomatoes and red strips.

The Cheetos Burrito tested in Cincinnati, OH. The burrito contained rice, sour cream, beef, nacho cheese, and Cheetos. Sold for $1 each.

Naked Chicken Chalupa

A Chalupa but with the shell made out of chicken. Tested at the Taco Bell HQ and unknown if it went to a test market, this item was the start of Taco Bell's fried chicken boom.

In Omaha, NE, Taco Bell explored an "under $1" menu called the Crave More Menu. This included items like the cheesy roll up for 79 cents, the Flamin' Hot Fritos Taco for 89 cents, and the Queso Beef Burrito for 99 cents. To see the full list of items view the source below.

Double Cheesy Gordita Crunch

For this item we don't have a location or a real source except this one picture, which was shown to us in November 2016. The double cheesy gordita crunch was like the regular menu item but also had beef in between the shells. There was also a spicy version with added jalapenos. $3.49 each.

This item first went nationwide Experience 8 (August 16) 2018, and has also returned since then.

Fajita Burrito / Quesadilla

Taco Bell tested a new Steak Fajita Burrito and Steak Fajita Mini Quesadilla at a Taco Bell in Ohio.  The new items feature flame-grilled steak and vegetables.  

The Steak Fajita Burrito is priced at $2.99 and available in a $5 Big Box combo while the Steak Fajita Mini Quesadilla is priced at $1.49.

Volcano Chickstar / Chicken Chips

Taco Bell tested their Chicken Chips in August of 2016 and they were good enough to test Volcano Chicken Chips in December. These were tested in Knoxville, TN. Along with just the chips they also tested them in a Chickstar, which is like a crunchwrap with fried chicken on the inside.

Caeser Crunchwraps

The Caesar Crunchwraps first tested in the Ohio test market in December 2016. These were spotted testing again in March of 2017. These you could order in chicken or steak for $2.99 or in a $5 box with a doritos taco, regular taco, and a medium drink.

Double Chalupa

The Double Chalupa tested in Glendale, WI. Reminiscent of the XXL Chalupa released in 2010,tThis was a Chalupa "boat" filled with double the beef, nacho cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and 3 cheese blend. These beasts were $3.49 a piece or you could get them in a $5 box with a doritos taco, regular taco, and a medium drink.

This item first went nationwide Experience 6 (June 22) 2017, and has also returned since then.

Seasoned Fries / Loaded Fries

Taco Bell has tested fries in the past as well as keeps fries as a permanent item in locations worldwide outside the United States. Last time we saw Taco Bell test fries was the end of 2016 in the town of it's HW; Irvine, CA.

Nacho Fries went nationwide Experience 2 (January 28) 2018.
